Palace of the Shirvanshahs

A 15th-century palace complex on the highest point of the Old City.

About Palace of the Shirvanshahs

Dating largely to the 15th century, the complex includes palace buildings, a mausoleum, a mosque and courtyards. Intricate stonework evokes the era of the Shirvanshah rulers. It forms part of UNESCO-listed Old Baku. The different buildings tell stories of royal life, religious customs and court traditions. Walking through the courtyards makes it easier to imagine Baku when the palace served as a centre of political and cultural life.
